ABOUT
Betsy Djamoos is an artist whose journey into painting and photography began later in life. Despite years of self-doubt instilled by a grade-school teacher's dismissing her artistic ability, 35 years later she decided it was time to conquer her fear, found a teacher who believed in her and just paint. Her vibrant, layered works reflect the exploration of life's inner journey, showcasing bold colors and dynamic compositions.
Selected Works
Focus on the journey of awakening one's inner sacred space, making room for joy and light for your soul, is the subject of my paintings. The voice of the works is characterized by intuitive palettes, contrasting shapes, and bold compositions. The paintings are successive layers of intention. Affirmations and history are built into the foundation layers. Word upon word, line upon line, color upon color, and emotion upon emotion. Underneath the surface of these paintings is a journey of exploration to the next destination of inner space, clarity, and renewal. I've also explored photography, collage, as well as, ink and brush, continually experimenting to find my voice.
